Researching Local History

Local history often takes a back seat to the textbook-style narratives utilized in history classrooms. The following sites offer excellent resources for exploring community history. The first two are national in scope. Realize that the Wisconsin Historical Society is nationally renowned and offers tremendous resources for local and regional history in our state. The Jackson County History Room, located at our local public library, has an outstanding collection of print and digital resources as well. Visit the History Room and take time to explore!
